Position : Front Office and Accounting Assistant – Zanzibar City
We are a growing startup looking for a vibrant, professional, and organized Front Office and Accounting Assistant to be the face of our new office in Zanzibar. This is a multi-functional role ideal for someone who excels in customer service and front-office management, while also possessing solid foundational skills in basic bookkeeping and accounting. You will ensure the smooth, day-to-day operations of our office during fixed working hours and manage our basic financial records.
Key Responsibilities:
Front Office & Administration (60%):
- Manage the reception area, welcome clients, guests, and partners with a professional and friendly demeanor.
- Maintain strict adherence to the office’s fixed opening hours.
- Answer incoming phone calls, manage general email inquiries, and handle incoming/outgoing mail.
- Ensure the office is organized, clean, and fully stocked with necessary office supplies.
- Assist management with general administrative tasks and scheduling.
Basic Accounting & Bookkeeping (40%):
- Manage day-to-day basic bookkeeping, including petty cash management and tracking office expenses.
- Sort, verify, and digitally archive financial documents (receipts, invoices, and bank statements).
- Input financial data into our basic accounting system.
- Coordinate and communicate with our management team regarding monthly financial overviews.
Required profile for job ad : Front Office and Accounting Assistant – Zanzibar City
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1–2 years of experience in a similar combined role (Receptionist / Front Office / Admin Assistant) with hands-on accounting experience.
- Fluency in English and Swahili (both written and spoken) with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and familiarity with MS Excel (knowledge of QuickBooks or Xero is an advantage).
- Exceptional punctuality, reliability, and time-management skills (crucial for fixed office hours).
- Professional appearance and positive, proactive attitude.
